PEIG Stand at APEC 2009 16 Feb 2009
 

The research results created under the Enterprise Ireland sponsored Industry Led Research Programme was pshowcased at the annual Applied Power Electronics Conference, which was held in Washington, D.C.  The representative of the PEIG researchers, Dr Cian O'Mathuna, also gave a plenary talk on the future of Power Supply on Chip. PEIG Industry Led Research Programme Showcase Event 4 Dec 2008

The final showcase event that provided a final public update on the various research projects took place in Cork. The event was attended by 55 people, and was assessed by attendees as being a success.

The AGM of the organisation was also held on the day, and a new committee has been agreed for the organisation

Power Supply on Chip Workshop exceeds expectations 24 Sep 2008

The Tyndall National Institute organised the inaugural International Workshop on Power Supply on Chip, PwrSoc’ 08, in Cork. The workshop was a huge success with double the number of expected attendees. More then 120 leading industry and academic players from across the world participate. Over 25 companies and 34 research institutes discussed the most recent results and the technology challenges and market opportunities in this emerging area. See http://www.powersoc.org/

ON Semiconductor establishes R & D centre in Limerick 14 July 2008
 

ON Semiconductor opened a new Research and Development Centre in Limerick. The centre will become a Centre of Expertise in digital power management and thermal management for the next generation processors. See http://www.onsemi.com/PowerSolutions/newsItem.do?article=1807 for further details.

 
 
Commergy is acquired by Texas Instruments 13 May 2008

APEC, 24-28 February 2008
PEIG, with support from Enterprise Ireland, exhibited at APEC 2008 in Austin TX. The event was a success, and the booth generated a lot of interest, and a wide variety of attendees expressed interested in the technologies comprising the strands of the Industry Led Research Programme (ILRP). ILRP Showcase, Cork, Thur 31 January 2008
A greater than expected turnout made this event a great start to the calendar of events. Six research teams gave detailed updates on their technology development. Antoin Russell, CEO of Powervation delivered a riveting talk on his company’s journey so far. Dennis Jennings of 4th Level Ventures provided excellent advice for would-be entrepreneurs.

Analog Devices Completes Sale of 2 Lines, Wed 2 Jan, 2008
Chip maker Analog Devices Inc. said Wednesday it completed the approximately $184 million sale of its CPU voltage regulation and PC thermal monitoring product lines to ON Semiconductor Corp. L-R Jim Lawler.
