Duolingo

Duolingo is a free app which offers game-like lessons for language learners at every level. The app offers lessons in 87 different languages, with Irish in the top ten most popular languages to learn. Over 2.3 million people were learning Irish on Duolingo by the end of 2016, with 23% of this number based in Ireland and over 50% based in the US. Research has shown that 34 hours on Duolingo equates to one university semester of learning the language. 


Learn Irish with Rosetta Stone

Rosetta Stone is an international company providing interactive software for language learning. The company's cloud-based programs allow users to learn online or on-the-go via tablet or smartphone. Individuals, businesses and teachers are all catered for. Course prices for individuals start at around €10 per month. 

Vifax, NUI Maynooth

Vifax is very useful for improving comprehension and aural skills. Lessons for secondary and primary level are made available on the site every week, based on segments from TG4.

Abair.ie

Abair.ie provides phonetics for inputted text, in the three main dialects of the language.

Tearma.ie
A database of Irish terms, published by Fiontar in collaboration with An Coiste Téarmaíochta, Foras na Gaeilge.

Focloir Beag
A resource for learning the different forms and structures of the most common Irish verbs, provided by the University of Limerick. 

Potafocal
An dictionary and database of phrases compiled by Michal Boleslav Měchura, during his time learning the language. The database is based on articles from Beo!, a monthly magazine which was published from 2001 to 2014, among other sources.
