BEO – Gaelach agus Bródúil

What is BEO – Gaelach agus Bródúil?

BEO will be the Irish language event of the year. It is a celebration of the vitality, community, heritage, culture and future of the Irish language. All are welcome to attend the special day which will host a wide variety of events suitable for all ages. Amongst the day’s events will be a march, entertainment, music, speeches, family events and much much more. BEO will be one of the feature events of Bliain na Gaeilge 2018.


When will it take place?

BEO will take place on the first Saturday of Seachtain na Gaeilge with Energia, on the 3rd of March 2018.

Where will it take place?

BEO will take place in the the heart of Dublin City Centre, starting at Parnell Square and making its way to St. Stephen’s Green.

Who will be there?

Everyone! All are welcome to attend this historical event. Schools, community groups, organizations, businesses, third level societies, households, all the way down to individuals.

How do I take part?

Special packages will be sent out to groups that register with Bliain na Gaeilge organisers. In the package comes tools to create a unique flag for the event, as well as guidelines for its design. To register for BEO and to get the latest information about the event, you need only fill out this form.

The Gaelic Revival started 125 years ago this year and with that in mind the Irish speaking community shall come together in joyous celebration during 2018.It is easy to take part due to sheer amount of events, both big and small, that will be run around the country.

BEO 2018

A large public celebration is being organised for the 3rd of March in order to celebrate the founding of Conradh na Gaeilge, and in turn, the Gaelic Revival. All are welcome to this day-long event which will start at Parnell Square in Dublin and will make its way down to St. Stephen’s Green where events suitable for all ages will be available. Entertainment, music, speeches and family events will be among the wide range of activities available on the day. BEO will be one of the many main events of Bliain na Gaeilge 2018.

Local Events:

Many events shall be put on as part of Bliain na Gaeilge and they shall all be accessible through the interactive map on PEIG.ie/2018. If you wish to register your own event, you may do so at the ‘Create Event’ page.


As well as events, Bliain na Gaeilge will be full of competitions for both young and old  to promote the celebration nationally.

The Irish language is going from strength to strength and developing alongside everyday technology. Bliain na Gaeilge aims to amalgamate the two together with its wide selection of competitions.
